No Filters Needed: Living Authentically in Christ“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come; the old has gone, the new is here!” (2Cor 5:17)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled ...
Matthew 5:6

No Filters Needed: Living Authentically in Christ“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come; the old has gone, the new is here!” (2Cor 5:17)

You are warmly welcome! We live in a world where filters rule. On camera apps, every blemish can disappear with one swipe; pimples vanish, wrinkles dissolve, and suddenly skin shines smooth and tender. Do you know people like this? The illusion looks flawless—yet the truth remains hidden. Filters are not limited to photos. Many of us live rehearsed lives: We are smooth in public, smiling and composed, yet at home we quarrel and rage; we wear shapely clothes and artificial curves, projecting confidence, while hiding insecurity within; some turn to drugs or alcohol for courage, though in sobriety they tremble with fear. Jesus described this condition perfectly in Matthew 23:25–26: cups polished on the outside but filthy inside; tombs whitewashed without but full of death within!

The danger of a filtered life is this: it convinces us that appearance is more important than reality. That works many times here on earth, but not when it is a matter of life and death, relating with God. God is not fooled. He is El Roi—the God who sees. He sees beneath the polish. He peers beyond the filter. He knows the heart. And here lies the good news: in Christ, no filter is needed. You don’t need to perform, pretend, or patch up a false identity. Paul declares in 2Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come.” The old stains, the hidden sins, the shame that made you pretend—they are taken away. You are made new.

Outside Christ, the center cannot hold. Without Him, you must rely on cover-ups—makeup for the soul, fake smiles for the crowd, substances to drown your fears. But in Christ, you are complete, secure, and confident - anywhere and anytime. In Him you are reconciled to God, and your true, redeemed self can finally stand tall—unfiltered, authentic, free.

So what should we do? First, if you are still wandering, still hiding behind the masks of this world, hear Christ’s invitation: “Be reconciled to God.” Come home. Lay down the filters. You are welcome, and He will make you new. And if you are already in Christ, don’t be shaken by the glittering illusions around you. The world applauds the fake, but the Kingdom crowns the faithful. Stay rooted in Christ, and your life will stand secure for eternity.

So I ask you: would you rather drink from a cup that looks clean outside but is filthy inside, or from one clean within though stained outside? God wants the inside—your heart—made pure. And when the inside is clean, the outside will shine with a beauty no filter can match. In a filtered, fake world, dare to live unfiltered; dare to live authentically. No filters needed—because in Christ, the new creation has come.
