You are warmly welcome! Thank you for warmly and generously receiving Bishop Baalwa last Sunday; and we congratulate those who were confirmed - empowered to move mountains.
Mountains are a part of life. Some are meant to remain—majestic, immovable, and shaping our journey—while others stand in the way of God’s purpose and must be removed. In Mark 11:20-25, Jesus, after cursing the fig tree, taught His disciples that faith-filled prayer has the power to move mountains. He wasn’t talking about rearranging the landscape for personal comfort but removing obstacles that hinder God’s will and our walk with Him.
Some mountains remain for our strengthening. A hill may be a nuisance to a casual walker, but to an athlete in training, that same hill builds endurance and power. In the same way, a lower gear on a gym bicycle might feel like hard work, but it is precisely that resistance that develops muscle strength. God sometimes leaves certain “mountains” in place to build our faith, perseverance, and character. They are not punishments but training grounds for spiritual champions.
In Acts 12, we see two mountains: James is killed by Herod—a devastating blow to the early church. Why did God not move this mountain? Some things are left as they are, for reasons beyond our sight, yet within God’s perfect plan. But then comes Peter, shackled between soldiers in a locked prison. The church prays earnestly, and God sends an angel for an impossible rescue. The drama of Peter’s deliverance reads like an ancient “Prison Break” episode—iron gates swinging open on their own, chains falling off without a sound, guards left clueless as Peter walks out free. The church, still praying, is shocked when the answer stands knocking at the door!
This is our call: discern the mountains in your life. Some are tests to endure, shaping your faith. Others—chains of fear, spiritual stagnation, oppression—must be shattered through prayer. Don’t be discouraged by the mountains that remain; they have their purpose, like the hill that toughens the runner. But when the Spirit stirs your heart, engage your faith. Speak, believe, and pray with persistence, knowing that heaven moves at the sound of faith-filled prayer.
Above all, remember the vision. Life’s journey is not about building monuments of wealth or status, but about serving faithfully and arriving at the eternal home prepared by God. When you pray with this destination in mind, mountains will move—not for your comfort alone, but for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom. Be encouraged: some mountains will remain to make you stronger, but the ones that must move will crumble when you pray in faith. God bless you.
