The Chapel in the Year 2018 - Highlights to AGM
But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said.” Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid” (Matt 28:5-6,10)
Today is our AGM Sunday – a time to look back, review and evaluate, even as we look forward to grow and remain faithful to the call. In the year 2018, one more new worship service was experimented; otherwise the Chapel focused on strengthening some of the activities that were started in 2017, and maintaining all regular ministry and stewardship activities. The following are highlights from selected activities:
a) Outreach to Buganda: KUAYM launched KUDEME in 2017 – a decade of massive evangelism. To actualize this, the 2018 regime appointed regional coordinators to mobilize for outreach missions in their respective regions (Central, Western, Eastern and Northern). The Central region has been the area focus: a Vernacular Service was started in Nov 2018 to mobilize capacity for such activities, and has since continued. Areas that have been reached include Sembabule, Gomba, Kasanje and Bujuuko.
b) Hallelujah Classical Competitions were held in April 2018 to revive the classical hymns / music. For the second time in this style, over 80 choristers stood together on stage to worship the King of kings and Lord of lords. Out of this activity, a Chapel Choir was birthed and has grown stronger. An Easter Drama was also pioneered in 2018, entitled ‘Watch the Lamb’.
c) Bishop’s Visits: The Archbishop made his Pastoral Visit to the Chapel and University on 07th October 2018; it was a colourful service and fellowship. A total of 23 Candidates (mainly P.7 leavers) were confirmed on 21st January 2018 by Bishop Edward Muhima; Another 31 candidates were confirmed on 20th May, while 36 (mainly Nabisunsa Girls Students) were confirmed on 17th June 2017 by Bishop Joel Obetia.
d) Short Courses: We hosted a short course: ‘Perspectives on the World Christian Movement’; over 20 people successfully completed the course. The Chaplain also continued the two short courses in Preaching and Altar Ministry (9 weeks) to build capacity for ministry among the participants.
e) Finances: The Chapel collections for the year 2018 amounted to about Ugx 700 million, similar to the performance in 2017. We thank God Almighty for the giving; all contributions from God’s people are highly appreciated.
More highlights will be shared during the AGM, covering more the ministry activities and what we look forward to in the year(s) ahead.
God bless you all.
